Here are my educated thoughts on what trends you may see in the new year……
MORE COMPANIES PARTNERING WITH AMAZON DIRECTLY
I couldn’t find Baleaf’s clothing on any other website besides their own and Amazon. Baleaf has a very large landing page on Amazon and I do not think it is a coincidence. In 2019 look out for niche running companies like Goodr and Tracksmith to see if the incorporate into Amazon’s network
RUNNING CLUBS GO NATIONAL
It is very hip to wear popular running club gear around where you live. In Boston you have many clubs like Heartbreak Hill, Boston Road Runners, Great Lowell, etc. all of which have a devoted following. Nike has plain black t shirts for NYC, LA running clubs but I can see New York’s Black Roses or BlacklistLA becoming main stream with gear.
NEW BALANCE, ADIDAS & ASICS WILL CREATE THEIR OWN ZOOM VAPORFLY 4%
Nike’s branding of the Zoom Vaporfly 4% that retailed for over $300 was brilliant. I was in Hong Kong during the Hong Kong Marathon Expo this year and Nike setup two kiosks to buy these shoes right then and there. The lines to pay $300 was out and around the park, it was incredible to see. The other big shoe companies I believe surely will try to come out with something similar next year.
NEW JOGGING STROLLER DESIGNS
The KidRunner is pretty revolutionary, allowing the parent clip in with a waistband and pull the child trailer. As a dad this is amazing as it allows you full motion of both your arms for running. Major retailers like BOB or Thule to model a design similar to this and allow the parent to run “more free” than a wrist strap and having one hand dedicated always to the stroller.
